On my way home after a day in Big Cypress, I stopped to see whether any alligators were nearby. This one caught my eye—and met my gaze—before disappearing only seconds after the photograph was captured.
When I showed the image to a friend the following day, his first reaction gave the photograph its name: Haunted.
